Vegetarian Fried Rice Recipes

Tawa pulao is one of the quickest recipes used by pav bhaji vendors on road side Mumbai. They keep cooked (boiled) rice readily available and in 10 minutes can prepare tawa pulao

Type of Meal : Lunch or dinner

Preparation Time : 10 minutes

Cooking Time : 10 minutes

Ingredients for Tawa Pulao

  • Rice - 2 cups (boiled)
  • Onion - 1 (Finely chopped)
  • Jeera (Cumin Seeds) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • oil - 2 tablespoon
  • Ginger-Garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
  • Tomato - 2 (finely chopped)
  • Capsicum - 1 (Chopped)
  • Green peas - 1/4 cup (boiled)
  • Turmeric powder (haldi) - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Pav Bhaji Masala - 1 tablespoon
  • Green Chili (chopped) - 1
  • Coriander Leaves (Dhania patta) - 1 tablespoon for garnish
  • Salt to taste


    Method for Tawa Pulao

    1. Heat kadai without any ingredients till fumes start coming out of kadai
    2. Quickly add oil, green chili, cumin seeds and saute for 30 seconds
    3. Add onions and fry for 1 minute, now add turmeric powder and ginger-garlic paste and saute for 1 minute on high heat
    4. Add tomato, boiled green peas and capsicum and saute for 2 minutes
    5. Add boiled (cooked) rice and mix
    6. Add salt, red chili powder and pav bhaji masala and saute for 2 minutes on low heat
    7. Garnish with coriander leaves
    8. Mumbai street food is ready
    9. Serve Tawa Pulao hot with Gobi Manchurian or Dum Aloo Punjabi
